Shreya Gupta

Shreya Gupta is a third-year doctoral researcher working on an AHRC–funded Collaborative Doctoral Partnership at the University of Exeter in collaboration with the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Her PhD project is titled ‘Decolonising Collections: Uncovering British and Indian collectors’ networks behind British numismatic collections’. It examines the history of four collections of Indian coins currently held in the Ashmolean Museum, the British Museum and the Fitzwilliam Museum, and attempts to foreground the contributions of the Indian collectors and scholars who helped assemble these collections.

Besides her doctoral studies, she pursues her interest in the History of Collecting and Museums, particularly colonial collections in museums in Britain and India, as co-convenor of the CDP History of Collecting and Institutions group.
